Guggul (Commiphora mukul) is also known as Indian bdellium. It is a resin extracted from the thorny myrrh bush mukul. This bush naturally grows on the Indian subcontinent. This plant is also called devadhupa, which means "divine incense." In Sanskrit, guggulu translates to: "protects against diseases."

In Ayurvedic medicine, this resin is valued for its nutritional properties.

Guggulu is used as an ingredient in Ayurvedic herbal blends because it helps transport substances into the deep tissues of the body.
