In the presence of water, they release mucus and create a gel that helps move the remaining contents through the intestines. The husks can be consumed as a drink, with water, milk, or fruit juice. They can also be an addition to bread or a thickener for soups and sauces. We particularly recommend psyllium husks in combination with psyllium seeds in a proportion of 20% husks and 80% seeds, in the form of what is called vital fiber.
