Nothing simpler:
Chamomile in herbal medicine since antiquity
Chamomile is one of the oldest plants recognized in herbal medicine. All this thanks to its remarkable and versatile properties. In nature, it appears as a plant that produces many small flowers, distinguished by white petals and a yellow center. It's most commonly found in fallow lands, meadows, cereal fields, along roadsides, at forest edges, and even in gardens.
Similar plants
When wanting to harvest chamomile, it's important to know that there are many similar species, but they don't have the same properties. Field chamomile or scentless mayweed, for example, have an almost identical appearance. The ability to distinguish these flowers is essential, especially for those who practice herbal medicine. Chamomile is primarily characterized by its hollow central receptacle and emits a pleasant aroma when rubbed in the palm of the hand. Neither field chamomile nor scentless mayweed have these characteristics.
What does chamomile contain?
The use of chamomile is also indicated by the presence of flavonoids, anti-allergic substances, phytosterols, catechin tannins, polyacetylenes, choline, coumarin compounds, and mineral salts.
Regular use of chamomile - benefits
Regular use of chamomile helps remedy many health problems. Compresses made from chamomile flowers are very useful as they accelerate the wound healing process and also have anti-inflammatory properties. Chamomile also relaxes smooth muscles and stimulates digestion. Therefore, this plant is valuable for all gastrointestinal disorders such as constipation or flatulence, among others. Additionally, it alleviates symptoms of skin and mucous membrane inflammation. It's important to know that chamomile infusion is an excellent remedy for all kinds of bacterial mouth conditions.
Beneficial for the digestive system
Flavonoids and coumarin derivatives are present in large quantities, making chamomile an excellent means of countering and neutralizing digestive disorders. It promotes intestinal function and facilitates the flow of bile. It is recommended to drink a glass of chamomile infusion after eating a hard-to-digest food. It is important to note that this action will not cause other discomforts, as chamomile prevents gastric hyperacidity and reduces the secretion of gastric juice.
For skin problems
Allergies can be fought with natural methods. More specifically, chamomile compresses. This plant has antihistamine properties, which alleviates allergic symptoms. It also stands out for its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects, which contribute to faster regeneration of skin tissues. This is why chamomile compresses are valuable for soothing burns and ulcers.
Use in cosmetics
The properties of chamomile are extremely versatile, as evidenced by its widespread use in the cosmetics industry. It has the ability to lighten hair and is therefore ideal for the care of blonde hair and dull hair. It is also interesting to use a rinse based on this plant to strengthen the roots and prevent hair loss.
