DESCRIPTION
ERYTHRITOL 500 g - BATOM
Erythritol can be used in cooking, baking, and sweetening, thus reducing the calorie content of prepared foods. Erythritol is less sweet than traditional sugar, achieving approximately 75% of its sweetness. Dietary supplements cannot replace a varied diet. It can be used as a substitute for traditional sugar, which closely resembles its appearance. It is perfect for sweetening coffee, tea, desserts, and as an ingredient in cakes. Erythritol, however, is less sweet, having approximately 60-70% of the sweetness of sucrose (sugar), which is worth considering in recipes when replacing these products. When consumed, it leaves the mouth slightly fresh. Its significant advantage over sugar is primarily its low calorie content and the fact that it has a zero glycemic index, and therefore does not increase blood sugar levels. 1g of erythritol only contains about 0.2 kcal, which is why it is called a "zero-calorie sweetener." Among the sweeteners available, it is the lowest-calorie option, with virtually no nutritional value, making it ideal for those controlling calories and reducing their intake.
In food, erythritol is increasingly used in the production of healthy sweets, jams, candied fruits, chewing gum, and dietary supplements for people who must exclude sugar from their diet. It not only acts as a sweetener, but is also used as a flavor enhancer, thickener, and as a substance that prevents changes in the consistency, color, and taste of the product.
Erythritol has a positive effect on our body by acting as an antioxidant and protecting teeth. As an antioxidant, it combines with free radicals and protects our body from their harmful effects. It also has the ability to inhibit sugar fermentation by Streptococcus bacteria, which can cause tooth decay.
INTERESTS
In recipes, when replacing sugar with erythritol, the ratio should be: 5g of sugar should be exchanged for approximately 7g of erythritol. Erythritol is not recommended for baking yeast cakes because it slows down the rising of the dough. In food products, it is listed as E968. It is often added to other sweeteners, such as aspartame, in products to reduce their undesirable aftertaste and improve their sweetness. In cosmetics, it is used as a substitute for glycerin, which acts as a preservative, i.e., protects the product from spoilage.
