The pedunculate oak [Latin: Quercus robur] is a well-known tree to all, symbolizing robustness, durability, and traditional values, with an average lifespan of 600 to 1000 years. However, not everyone knows that oak bark has been an extremely valuable plant raw material for centuries. It is harvested in early spring from young trunks or branches, even before the first leaves appear. In traditional medicine, decoctions of oak bark relieve many ailments such as diarrhea, stomatitis, and skin problems. The tree is naturally found only in the northern hemisphere, in temperate zones.
