Pine nuts are a source of a large amount of nutrients. These include B vitamins, vitamin E, vitamin K, vitamin A, fiber, minerals such as zinc, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, calcium, as well as valuable fatty acids (saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated).
The pinolenic acid in walnuts regulates blood pressure, reduces the risk of arteriosclerosis, and also aids in weight loss. Pine nuts are used to make Italian pesto, which also includes basil, Parmesan cheese, garlic, and olive oil. Pine nuts also work well as an ingredient in sauces served alongside pasta.
